Health & Wellbeing

 

Span offer a varied and diverse range of health and wellbeing activities. Tutors are skilled and qualified, classes are kept to small sizes to allow enough space and attention to allow for participants to achieve what they wish. All activities are held in a comfortable and relaxed space.

Physical activity is an important component of maintaining a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle, especially as you grow older.

For Health & Wellbeing classes we have a 5 class pass per term. Please contact Span for further information.

Span is resourced to fund NDIS clients with mild disabilities. Span is not a NDIS provider but provides activities under NDIS plans.

Gentle Exercise 

Tutor Bruce Hatfield

Come and join Bruce for this low impact class which will strengthen your mind and body. All students report an improved outlook on life, fitness and coordination. A fun and friendly class for all ages.

Tuesdays 9.30 – 10.30am

Tai Chi 

Tutor Rani Hughes

Yang 24 will be taught in terms 1 and 2. The most popular style of Tai Chi in the world. This form is the style of the Emperor of China. It is a gracious and regal form of Tai Chi. Suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners.

Join this Tai Chi class with Rani to relax and rejuvenate your mind and body. Rani provides enjoyable, supportive and inclusive sessions. NDIS funded participants welcome.

Tai Chi for Healthy Minds & Bodies

Tutor Rani Hughes

The tutor is a master trainer in Tai Chi for health programs and an Occupational Therapist. This class provides informative, supportive and fun Tai Chi sessions of movement and flow (modified as required).

 

This class is for participants who are seeking a supportive group to find calmness and relaxation through gentle movement flow. Family carers looking for a supportive social connection are also encouraged to attend.

A free 12-week online Qigong program

Qigong Plus consists of a 60-minute online Qigong session once per week on Thursdays 4pm – 5pm, for 12 weeks, from 18th April – 4th July 2024 (Inclusive of one pre-program online orientation session). You will also be provided with self-practice resources to assist you with additional practice outside of these instructor-led sessions.

Numbers are limited and we can only take 10-15 participants.

Who can participate in this research?

You may be eligible to participate if you are…

·         Aged 60 years and above.

·         Are living within the community.

·         Able to independently perform basic limb movement in either sitting or standing position.

·         Have access to internet and either a tablet, a smartphone, or a computer.

·         Do not have severe balance, visual, hearing, and/or cognitive impairments that impair the ability to participate in an online Qigong program.
