Span respects and celebrates the older community. This year in October we are holding a range of activities to celebrate older people as part of Seniors’ Month. Span is offering free trial classes to a range of activities including digital literacy, physical, creative and much more! There is something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. Community Lunch – A two course home cooked meal is shared in our dining room with other friendly community members. Come along for company, conversation and support.
Good Bugs Community Garden Group – Come and join the gardening team in Norma’s Thyme Garden, the community garden at Span. Wheelchair accessible, fun and supportive. You just need your skills, or want to develop skills.
OM:NI (Older Men: New Ideas) – Men aged 50+ meet fortnightly to discuss what’s happening in their lives, current affairs and topics they choose. Attendance is casual so come along whenever you can.
Thornbury Writers’ Workshop – This group meets to share their writing experiences, give each other feedback, try writing exercises and read work from published authors for tips and inspiration. Guided by a qualified and published author. (Fees apply)
Gentle Exercise – This low impact class will strengthen your mind and body. All students report an improved outlook on life, fitness and coordination. A fun and friendly class for all ages. (Fees apply)
Pilates – These classes offer a low impact exercise, designed to improve overall strength and flexibility.
Tai Chi for Health – Come along and try Tai Chi in a safe and fun environment.
